Cadiz Guide
Practical travel tips for getting around Cadiz
Cadiz is a relatively small city, whose historic centre is easy to get from one end to the other on foot. However, if you are staying in a hotel outside the city walls, or you don’t want to walk, there is a good network of public transport.
Getting about Cadiz by bus
City buses reach almost all the tourist hotspots in the city and they are really cheap. Each route has a number and the bus stops show you which bus number stops there.
The buses operate a flat fare system for a single journey. The fare increases if you change buses and depending on how long you are staying in Cadiz, you might want to consider buying a pack of ten journeys, which works out even cheap per journey. These tickets are transferable too so you can use them for all the family instead of having to buy one for each of you.
There is also a network of inter urban buses that takes you from the city around the province. You can find all the information in English about routes, timetables and prices on the transport company’s website. https://siu.cmtbc.es/en/index.php
Getting around by train
Although the trains do operate within the city, the bus is probably still the cheapest and easiest option . However if you are looking to get out of the city to do some day trips, then the network known as “cercanias” is the best choice for this. This is a network of trains that go to towns and villages in the province from Cadiz and a single ticket starts from around 3 Euros. There is a central station in Cadiz – Estacion de Renfe de Cadiz. You can consult the route map here https://www.renfe.com/es/es/cercanias/cercanias-cadiz/mapas to help plan your journey.
You can also get a direct train from Jerez Airport, where most of the flights from the UK arrive, to Cadiz on these trains.
Getting around by bicycle
Cadiz has a large network of cycle paths all along the seafront as well as in to the city centre, so it is easy and safe to get around by bike. You can hire a bike by the day or by the hour or you might want to consider doing a guided tour by bike around the city.
Getting around by boat
Cadiz is of course a port city and so a number of boats operate to different parts of the province and beyond to Africa, the Canaries, Gibraltar. You can also find all the information in English about boat routes, timetables and prices on the transport company’s website. https://siu.cmtbc.es/en/index.php
